STATEMENT OF BELIEF

We believe in the Old and New Testaments as the divinely inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original writing, and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life.

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ was born of the Virgin Mary and is true God and true man.

We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with sinful natures, in thought, word and deed.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, and is the representative and substitutionary sacrifice; and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood.

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life at the right hand of God, there for us as high priest and advocate.

We believe that salvation is by grace through faith, and not of works, and that all who are born again of the Holy Spirit, receiving by faith the Lord Jesus Christ, become children of God. We believe that every person who is truly saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe in the personal and bodily return of our Lord Jesus Christ and that His coming again might be at any time.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost.

We believe that each believer has direct access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that God the Holy Spirit is active in convicting unbelievers of the need for salvation and is the comforter and guide who lives in every believer.

We believe that Christians are prohibited from bringing civil lawsuits against other Christians or the church to resolve personal disputes. We believe the church possesses all the resources necessary to resolve personal disputes between members. We do believe, however, that a Christian may seek compensation for injuries from another Christian’s insurance company as long as the claim is pursued without malice or slander.

CHURCH COVENANT

Who We Are

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.

How We Work Together

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.

How We Live in the World

We also engage to maintain family and private devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our commitments, and exemplary in our behavior; to avoid all backbiting and excessive anger; to seek God’s help in abstaining from all drugs, food, drink, and practices which bring unwarranted harm to the body or jeopardize our own or another’s faith; and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.

What we Support and Oppose

In the Spirit of Christ, Christians should oppose racism, every form of greed, selfishness, and vice, and all forms of sexual immorality, including adultery, homosexuality, and pornography. We seek to provide for the orphaned, the needy, the abused, the aged, the helpless, and the sick. We seek to speak on behalf of the unborn and contend for the sanctity of all human life from conception to natural death.

How We Protect Our Fellowship

We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and Christian courtesy in speech; and to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.

What We Will Do When We Leave This Church

We further engage that when we move from this place, we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
